We’re growing!
Last month, we welcomed two new doctors to Southern Cosmetics, Dr Sara Tarafi and Dr Sheetal Vig. In this blog, we find out a little more about our newest team members and what drives them.
Dr Sara
What’s your professional background?
I’m a GP – I also work at Bluff Road Medical Centre (next door to our Sandringham clinic). I ventured into cosmetic medicine about five years ago.
What treatments do you specialise in?
Anti-wrinkle injections and fillers, plus general skin consultations.
Why do you love what you do?
I have a bit of artistic flair and I love beauty. I like to combine medicine with art to create beauty.
What are your hobbies?
I paint portraits with oil and acrylic on canvas, as well as landscapes. I started at the age of five. I had a mentor at the time and it just developed from there.
The art ties in with cosmetic medicine because it’s all about being able to assess a face in proportion and knowing which proportions create beauty. You do a lot of that when painting portraits, especially if you’re copying something. You have to have facial recognition and be able to put structures together to create a likeness. I have an eye for it, so it’s really easy for me to assess someone’s face and see where they need touch-ups here and there.
Aside from art, I like to keep active and fit. I have two kids – a boy of 6 and a girl of 8, and they keep me pretty busy.

Dr Sheetal
What’s your professional background?
I qualified as a GP about 5 years ago and started doing cosmetics in the UK. I moved to Australia about 3 years ago, set up a cosmetic clinic in Sydney and was doing that for about 18 months before moving to country Victoria with my partner. I’ve only recently moved to Melbourne. I also work in skin cancer medicine.
What treatments do you specialise in?
Injectables and fillers.
Why do you love what you do?
I guess it’s the artistic side of things, and working with patients to create a look that’s natural for them. I like to take a holistic approach to skincare overall.
I like the practicality of injectables. I’m a very hands-on person.
What are your hobbies?
I play tennis. I’m quite fit and active and enjoy sports and hiking.
Availability?
Every other Saturday.
