Reflecting on 2017: Our Highlights Reel

Cosmetic Medical Clinic

This year has been an incredible time of growth at Southern Cosmetics. It has been transformative, action-packed and highly rewarding. In this blog, our final one for 2017, we take a look at the highlights reel. Disclaimer: you might want to fasten your seatbelt – this is going to be quite a ride.

We started the year by offering some awesome new treatments…

In January, we became one of only two clinics in Victoria to offer a revolutionary fat-freezing treatment using a machine called the Cooltech. Since then, more clinics have adopted the technology, which effectively targets unwanted pockets of fat. “It offers a 20 to 25% reduction,” Dr Jenny Kimmins said. “The majority of treatments are abdominal, but we’ve been getting pretty good results everywhere we do it.”

In March, we purchased a new pigment laser, the Pastelle Q-Switched Laser, which added more depth to the range of laser treatments we offer. “Previously we were mainly using IPL to treat pigmentation,” Dr Jenny said. “The Pastelle can treat superficial pigmentation, deep pigmentation and tattoos, but it can also do laser toning for melasma, which is a very difficult condition to treat.”

In addition, we added gynaecological laser treatments to the mix, as well as some new dermal therapies – all of which have been well received by clients.

There were farewells…

Our Friday receptionist, Clare, left Southern Cosmetics in June to spend more quality time with the grandkids. And our dermal therapist, Dawn, went on maternity leave in October.

And new faces…

Felicity, our cosmetic nurse specialist, joined the team in January. She has thrived at Southern Cosmetics and has quickly developed a loyal following.

More recently, our new dermal therapist, Tegan, took over from Dawn. We also have a new receptionist, Stephanie, who works on Fridays and some Thursdays.

We attended some awesome conferences…

Professional development is a big focus for us, and we often have a calendar that’s jam- packed with events that keep us up to speed with industry news. Just last month, Dr Nick and Dr Jenny were invited to share their experiences of setting up and running an aesthetic medical clinic at the Cosmetic Practitioners Business Summit.

And we launched a new website…

If you haven’t already checked it out, please do. You can find plenty of great specials and handy information about our treatments.

We extended our opening hours…

To keep up with the high demand for our services, we opened up appointments for dermal therapy every Saturday morning until Christmas (previously it was only every second Saturday). Thursday nights we are now open until 7pm, and there are late appointments on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Somewhere amongst all the chaos, a child was born…

Now, that’s a story and a half. “Dawn came in a week after she finished to pick a few things up and she was complaining she had a bit of back pain and abdominal pain,” Dr Jenny said. “By the time she drove home, she was well and truly in the throes of labour and she had Harriet on the bathroom floor.” We were lucky enough to meet baby Harriet when she was a week old. Needless to say, she’s ridiculously cute, and looks just like her big brother, Leo.

It’s been a hectic year, but we’re almost at the finish line…

We will be closing for the Christmas break from December 22 to January 9 (reopening on the 10th). As for next year, there will be plenty of exciting new developments, including new treatments and a new doctor joining the team. Watch this space!

And now all that’s left to say are two words: Thank you!

It’s been quite a ride and we have loved seeing our clients transform into the best version of themselves. From everyone at Southern Cosmetics, we’d like to take the opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support and referrals. Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year, and see you in 2018!
