Vascular lasers and intense pulsed light (IPL) are first-line therapies for visible vessels and redness of Rosacea as they target haemoglobin within vessels to produce sufficient heat to shrink and shutdown the vessels and improve the cosmetic appearance. There is a new topical medication, however, 0.5% brimonidine — which can effectively vasoconstrict skin microcirculation resulting in marked reduction in facial erythema. This treatment is suitable for those with persistent background erythema after IPL or laser treatment, or for those who are not yet ready to commence laser or IPL treatments. An appointment with one of our cosmetic doctors is required to assess your suitability for treatment as this is a prescription medication.
