Vascular Laser

We can address a range of unwanted imperfections, including superficial and deep vascular lesions on the face and body, thanks to our vascular laser treatment. This treatment is particularly popular with rosacea sufferers, due to its ability to tackle many of the symptoms associated with this skin condition. Don’t let vascular lesions affect your confidence or quality of life – enquire today about which treatment options are available.

What is Vascular Laser for?

The treatment can assist with:

  • Rosacea symptoms
  • Redness
  • Broken capillaries or telangiectasias
  • Venous lakes
  • Spider naevi
  • Cherry angiomas
  • Unwanted blood vessels
  • Leg veins and facial veins
  • Scars
  • Stretch marks and some birthmarks, and
  • Warts and other lesions.

How does it work?

Our laser system has different wavelengths that can be used to treat various skin concerns. These wavelengths are attracted to a specific colour in the skin. As the vessel or lesion absorbs the beam of light, it converts it to heat, and the lesion is destroyed.

When treating capillaries, the laser breaks down the walls of the vessels, causing them to collapse. The capillaries are then reabsorbed by the body. What’s great about vascular laser is that the surrounding tissue is unharmed. The treatment is safe and effective.

Pre-treatments and post-treatment care

Please avoid applying fake tan prior to your treatment and don’t wear makeup to your appointment.

After the treatment, it’s best to avoid excessive sun exposure and exercise for 24 hours. We recommend you use a broad-spectrum sunscreen to protect your skin. You can apply make-up after the treatment if you’d like, but please do so gently, as the treated area may be sensitive.

How does the treatment feel?

Vascular laser treatments are well-tolerated and feel a bit like a hot pinprick. There may be a slight discomfort, but it should not be painful. No anaesthetic is necessary.

After the treatment, we cool the area with ice packs.

When will you notice a change?

You may experience slight reddening and localised swelling for up to 24 hours. Bruising or blistering is rare. Results should be evident within a few weeks, and you may continue to see improvement for several months.

Who is a suitable candidate?

Vascular laser may not be suitable for patients who are darkly pigmented. Please book in for a consultation so that we can assess if this treatment is right for you.

How many sessions are usually required?

The number of treatments required depends on what is being treated. For example, capillaries on the face usually require 2-3 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart. Other skin conditions may require 4-6 treatments for optimal results.

How long do the results last?

The longevity of the results depends on what is being treated and various lifestyle factors. For example, sun damage may recur if you spend excessive time in the sun without sun protection after the treatment. Treated blood vessels will not reappear, but new ones may form. Our cosmetic physicians and dermal therapists will provide guidance about how to achieve lasting results.
