What is an Erbium Laser Peel?
An Erbium peel is ideal for those who feel their skin is looking dull. The Erbium peel treats pigmentation, sun damage and discolouration, improves skin texture, reduces the appearance of wrinkles, as well as reduces acne scaring.
How do Erbium Laser Peels work?
This treatment can be performed on the face, neck, chest (décolletage) and hands. The laser is attracted to water in the skin and as the device passes over the skin, damaged cells are gently vaporized, layer by layer. As this occurs, the laser stimulates collagen production and improves skin texture.
Depending on your skin goals, we can adjust the intensity of the treatment. If you are looking to remove surface imperfections and light pigment, a gentle peel may be all you need. Patients requiring treatment for more extensive sun damage, wrinkles and ageing may require a deeper laser peel for optimum results.
How does the treatment feel?
Before we commence the treatment, we apply a topical anesthetic to ease any discomfort. It is common to experience a warm or hot sensation as the laser passes over your skin.
After the treatment, the treated area may feel hot and tender, like you’ve been sunburnt, but any discomfort is temporary.
When will you notice a change?
You may experience reddening of the skin initially and dry, flaky skin for up to a week after the treatment. Best results are often achieved 2-4 weeks post-treatment.
Who is a suitable candidate?
Fairer skin types tend to respond best to this treatment. However, we have seen positive results with a range of skin types.
How many sessions are usually required?
We usually suggest 2-4 treatments for best results, with most requiring 2 or 3 treatments. Treatments are spaced at 4-6 week intervals.
How long do the results last?
Results vary from person to person, but some patients experience ongoing benefits for up to 12 months. In some cases, even longer lasting results can be achieved when a complementary skincare regimen is implemented.
