Treatment Spot Light – Fotona Smooth Eye 

The EYES have it, windows to the soul? Maybe. Markers of a smile or annoyance as well! Our eyes are such a key part of our expression and face. Perhaps that’s why so many of our clients are looking for treatments and serums that target the eye area.

 

What is Smooth Eye?

Smooth Eye is a non-ablative treatment targeting the peri-ocular  region using an Erbium laser, delivered in a unique, sub second long pulse sequence. We utilise this delivery of energy to avoid temperature build up on the surface whilst still achieving homogenous heating deeper into the tissue. This is a fast, controlled, treatment with little downtime and great results.

 

What can I expect of my treatment?

Every treatment course begins with a consult, to see if you are suited to the treatment and to explain the procedure and expected results in full. From here you will come in for your treatment, we will always begin by cleansing the skin and taking photos pre procedure – to give you a real time idea of your progress. From here we apply a topical anaesthetic and leave this to take effect for approximately 45 minutes.

You will then go in for your treatment. The anaesthetic is removed and the eyes are protected with laser shields.

The treatment consists of stacked passes of energy to the entire peri-ocular area, below the lids, above and the temples. Initially you will feel very little, however as this treatment works with stacked energy, you will start to feel some heat and discomfort in the area as it goes on. Treating such a delicate area with high energy will always result in some discomfort however the good news in this is a quick process!

Once the treatment is complete will will apply a topical barrier to sooth and protect the skin. We recommend a course of 3 – 4 treatments for optimal results.

 

What will the area look like afterwards? 

Immediately afterwards there will be some redness and swelling. The area will feel hot.

Generally the redness will last between 24 – 48 hours. We recommended that 12 to 24 hours after your treatment you come in for som LED to assist with this. From here the skin will b very dry, with almost a hard layer of dehydrated skin on the surface. This will shed/clear generally with 5-7 days. This dry skin is generally quite subtle and you can carry on with day to day activities.

 

What results can I expect?

After the initial turn over of the dry skin, the area will appear fresher and smoother. The intense, controlled tissue heating stimulates collagen remodelling and initiates neocollagenesis – the formation of new collagen! This results in an overall improvement of fine lines, laxity, elasticity and healthy glow to the area!

The skin around the eyes is often thinner and more delicate than that of the rest of the face. We therefore recommend delivering different and targeted ingredients to this area! Some of our favourite eye care product include:
