Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

If you’re prone to pigmentation or melasma (brown, tan or blue-grey spots), winter is the perfect time to tackle the issue. Here’s why:

IPL works best on pale skin, rather than a tanned complexion. For that reason, it’s best to have this cosmetic treatment in winter while you’re covering up and avoiding the sun.

After an IPL treatment, your skin can become more sensitive to the sun’s UV rays. In winter, the UV index is lower, making it more conducive to recovery.

Leg Vein Cosmetic Treatments

At Southern Cosmetics, we have two treatment options for leg veins. The first, sclerotherapy, involves injecting a chemical solution into each vein, causing it to collapse and disappear. Patients are advised to wear compression stockings after the treatment for one to two weeks, which is why it’s best to have sclerotherapy during the cooler months.

We also offer laser treatments for leg veins. Pulses of laser light are directed at the vein, causing a heating and coagulation effect that destroys the vessel.
