At Southern Cosmetics, we love peeling back people’s layers to reveal what’s underneath. In this Q and A with Felicity, we learn a bit more about who she is and her life outside Southern Cosmetics. You may be shocked to discover the cosmetic nurse specialist with the fine features, angelic voice and pixie cut was a “cat burglar” in a former life. Well, sort of…
How did you end up as a cosmetic nurse specialist?
I’d done my nursing degree and I saw this job advertised in a cosmetic medical clinic at the Victorian Cosmetic Institute, which is where I met Jenny (the owner of Southern Cosmetics). I thought it sounded fun, so I applied and I got it! They gave me all the training I needed – I did skin treatments, laser treatments, and I worked in theatre. The rest is history.
What do you love about your job at Southern Cosmetics?
I love making people feel good about themselves. Sometimes you can do the most basic thing and it will give someone all the confidence in the world. It’s really nice seeing someone go from being quite timid and embarrassed, for example with acne or excessive hair on their face, and then you see them for however long it takes to get their skin or hair under control, and they can be a completely different person. It changes the way they go about their life.
What are your favourite hobbies outside of work?
I live in the city, so I love exploring and going for walks around the Tan. I have a cat named Stevie (after Stevie Nicks). I actually stole her from someone, because they weren’t looking after her properly. Now we’ve had her for about 15 years.
I travel a lot because my husband is English, so we go to Europe a lot and when we go in winter, we spend time snowboarding.
Favourite TV show?
Game of Thrones. What do I like about it? Jon Snow! My all-time favourite is Seinfeld. I’m a big Larry David fan and it’s just so funny!
